Looking for my first car!! HELP?!!?

I'm 18 and looking to purchase my very first car soon. I want it to be memorable and definatley not something typical and common (i.e Toyota Corrola, Honda Civic). I'm really into vintage and oldies but specifically old convertibles (60s to 70s). But to be honest, I do not know which one would be good for a first timer car :S I want something cheap (since i'll be paying for it) and something that wont end up costing me a fortune down the road either. I dont wanna spend more than 8 grand, and i have already seen cool cars for less but im just overwhelmed with all the models and makes. Sooo PLease help narrow my options! THANKSS =)
